The first step before adding your Thundermail account to Outlook on any device is to make an app password, so let’s do that before continuing:
Creating an App Password
- Sign in to your Thundermail dashboard.
- Scroll down to the “Email Settings” section.
- Click the “Create app password” button.
- Type the password you want to use into the “New password” field.
- Enter it again into the “Confirm password” field.
- Click the “Save” button.
Please remember to note this password. You will not be able to view or recover it later!
Outlook on Android
- On your Android device, open your Outlook app.
- Press the profile icon in the very top-left corner.
- Press the + under the profile icon and then “Add an account” at the bottom of the screen.
- For “Enter your mail,” type your Thundermail address, such as example@thundermail.com.
- Press “CONTINUE.” You will then be on the “Connect IMAP” screen.
- For “Password,” enter in the app password you set for Thundermail.
- For “Display Name,” type in the name you typically go by on your Thundermail account.
- For “Description,” enter whatever you’d like to help you remember later, such as Thundermail.
- Press the checkmark icon in the top-right of the screen to finish.
- Kick back and relax while your messages are downloaded!
Outlook on iOS
- On your iOS device, open your Outlook app.
- Press the profile icon in the very top-left corner.
- Press the envelope with a + under the profile icon and then “Add Email Account” at the bottom of the screen.
- For “Email Address,” type your Thundermail address, such as example@thundermail.com.
- Press “Add Account.” You will then be on the “IMAP” screen.
- Make sure that “Use Advanced Settings” at the bottom of the screen is toggled off.
- For “IMAP Password,” enter in the app password you set for Thundermail.
- For “Display Name,” type in the name you typically go by on your Thundermail account.
- For “Description,” enter whatever you’d like to help you remember later, such as Thundermail.
- Press “Sign in.”
- Watch and enjoy as your messages are downloaded!
Outlook on PC
- On your computer, open your Outlook app.
- If you are using Outlook for the very first time, skip to step 2.
- If you are already using “New” Outlook, From the File tab at the top of the screen, select “Account info.” Then click "Accounts" > "Your Accounts." Finally, select “Email accounts,” then click on “Add Account.”
- If you are already using “Classic” Outlook, From the File tab at the top of the screen, select “+ Add Account”
- For “Email Address,” type your Thundermail address, such as example@thundermail.com.
- Press “Continue” or “Connect.”
- For “Password,” enter in the app password you set for Thundermail.
- Press “Continue” or “OK” > “Finish.”
- If “Sync your IMAP account” appears, press “Continue” again.
- Unwind and breathe easy while your messages are downloaded!
If you have any troubles connecting with any of the above information, you can click on the “Advanced Settings” link from within the connection screen you’re stuck on and enter in the following:
Advanced Settings
- For the Incoming Mail Server “Host Name,” enter mail.thundermail.com.
- For the Incoming Mail Server “User Name,” enter your full Thundermail address.
- For the Incoming Mail Server “Password,” enter in the app password you set at the beginning of this guide.
The Outgoing Mail Server information should default to using SMTP and match the above Incoming settings.
