Getting Started With Thundermail

Excited to use your new Thundermail address? Let's get that working for you!

  1. Go to the Thunderbird Pro site and Log In (or Sign Up if it's your very first time!).
  2. Once you're in, you'll land on your Thunderbird Pro dashboard.
  3. Click the Thundermail icon to find your settings page.

Using Thundermail With Thunderbird (Recommended)

  1. If you haven't already, install the Thunderbird email application.
  2. In the "Set up an Email app" section of your Thundermail settings, find the "Download" button.
  3. Pick your Locale, Release Channel (we recommend the default), and your Operating System on the left and click "Download" if you will be using Thunderbird on your desktop or laptop. If you are instead wanting to use the mobile app on your Android device, please search for and install "Thunderbird" from the Google Play Store or F-Droid instead.
  4. After the download completes, install and open that new app.
  5. Enter in your Thundermail address and account password when the app asks for it.
  6. The app will then automatically set your Thundermail account up in Thunderbird for you!
  7. Delete the setup app (if on a desktop or laptop).

Connecting Thundermail to Other Email Clients

The first step is to create an app password, which will allow your Thunderbird account and your client to connect.

Creating an App Password

  1. Sign in to your Thundermail dashboard.
  2. Scroll down to the “Email Settings” section.
  3. Click the “Create app password” button.
  4. Type the password you want to use into the “New password” field.
  5. Enter it again into the “Confirm password” field.
  6. Click the “Save” button.
Please remember to note this password. You will not be able to view or recover it later!

Now, add an account in your client with your Thundermail address and app password.

If the client doesn't automatically connect, please see the "View Server Settings" section of your Thundermail dashboard for all of your incoming and outgoing mail settings, or refer to the information below:

Incoming Settings (IMAP or JMAP)

Server name: mail.thundermail.com

Server port: 993 (for IMAP) or 443 (for JMAP)

Authentication: SSL/TLS

Outgoing Settings (SMTP)

Server name: mail.thundermail.com

Server port: 465

Authentication: SSL/TLS

Quick Tip

You can always view your Thundermail addresses and set their passwords all from the "Email Settings" section of your dashboard.

Now you're ready for the fast and secure email experience of your dreams!
