Thundermail currently supports Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), also known as 2FA, using an authenticator app.
Here’s how to set it up:
- Visit your account dashboard.
- Click “Manage“ to the right of “Multi-Factor Authentication:“
- Click “Set up“ to the right of “Authenticator app:“
- The next screen will show your QR code. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app of choice, or add it to your preferred password manager.
- Click “Continue.“
- A screen will pop up to confirm the one-time code – enter the code from your authenticator app.
- Next, you will need to save your Recovery codes and click “Continue“
- The Recovery codes will automatically download to your device. You also have the opportunity here to save them:
We highly recommend storing your Recovery codes in multiple locations. If you lose both your recovery codes and your 2FA device, there will be no way to recover your account. Thundermail support will be unable to assist you in that situation.
- Check the box for “I’ve saved my recovery codes in a safe place” and click “Done.“
You are all set! Your account is now safeguarded by an extra layer of 2FA security.
