For ease of use, we recommend setting up Thundermail in the official Thunderbird app on Macs.
However, if you prefer to use Thundermail with the built-in Mac Mail app, we have detailed instructions here for you:
Creating an App Password
- Sign in to your Thundermail dashboard.
- Scroll down to the “Email Settings” section.
- Click the “Create app password” button.
- Type the password you want to use into the “New password” field.
- Enter it again into the “Confirm password” field.
- Click the “Save” button.
Please remember to note this password. You will not be able to view or recover it later!
Add Your Thundermail Account
- On your Mac, navigate to Settings > Internet Accounts.
- Click “Add Account…,” then “Add Other Account…,” then “Mail Account.”
- For “Name,” enter whatever you’d like to help you remember later, such as Thundermail.
- For “Email” and “Description,” type your Thundermail address, such as example@thundermail.com.
- For “Password,” enter in the app password you set for Thundermail.
- Press “Sign In.”
Add Our Server Settings
- For “Email Address,” enter in your Thundermail address, such as example@thunderbird.com.
- For “User Name,” keep this field blank.
- For “Password,” enter in the app password you set at the beginning of this guide.
- Make sure that “IMAP” is selected as the “Account Type.”
- “Description” can be anything you like to help you remember what this account is for (personal, business, etc.).
- For the “Incoming Mail Server,” enter mail.thundermail.com.
- “Outgoing Mail Server” should also be mail.thundermail.com.
- Press “Sign In.”
