For ease of use, we recommend setting up Thundermail in the official Thunderbird app on Macs.

However, if you prefer to use Thundermail with the built-in Mac Mail app, we have detailed instructions here for you:

Creating an App Password

  1. Sign in to your Thundermail dashboard.
  2. Scroll down to the “Email Settings” section.
  3. Click the “Create app password” button.
  4. Type the password you want to use into the “New password” field.
  5. Enter it again into the “Confirm password” field.
  6. Click the “Save” button.
Please remember to note this password. You will not be able to view or recover it later!

Add Your Thundermail Account

  1. On your Mac, navigate to Settings > Internet Accounts.
  2. Click “Add Account…,” then “Add Other Account…,” then “Mail Account.”
  3. For “Name,” enter whatever you’d like to help you remember later, such as Thundermail.
  4. For “Email” and “Description,” type your Thundermail address, such as example@thundermail.com.
  5. For “Password,” enter in the app password you set for Thundermail.
  6. Press “Sign In.”

Add Our Server Settings

  • For “Email Address,” enter in your Thundermail address, such as example@thunderbird.com.
  • For “User Name,” keep this field blank.
  • For “Password,” enter in the app password you set at the beginning of this guide.
  • Make sure that “IMAP” is selected as the “Account Type.”
